Shadows: Part 3

Shadows: Part 3

Remember that anytime we start taking steps of freedom, we can…

1.  Expect Hostility.  When we start doing something for God, or when we start gaining some spiritual momentum in God, the enemy will do everything he can to get in our way.  Why?  Because you have so much Kingdom potential in you and the devil hates it!  So when he keeps coming in to try and stop what God is doing, don’t wave the white flag!  Never surrender and never give up.  God is not finished with you yet.

2.  Endure Insults.  Jesus said that we will be hated because of Him.  The world doesn’t hate you because of you, but because of the Spirit of God on you.  The enemy hates what you have in Jesus.  So when under attack from the world’s anger, insults, bitterness, and hurt, just shake it off and rise above it.  Don’t let the enemy put his poison into your veins.

3.  Enjoy Results.  Stop talking about all the ways you’ve failed in life.  Don’t allow the enemy to identify you with your past.  You have a new name and a new identity in Christ.  You are a miracle of God and He wants to use your life for something greater!

1 Peter 4:12-19 (NLT)

Suffering for Being a Christian

Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.

If you are insulted because you bear the name of Christ, you will be blessed, for the glorious Spirit of God rests upon you. If you suffer, however, it must not be for murder, stealing, making trouble, or prying into other people’s affairs.  But it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name!  For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News? And also,

“If the righteous are barely saved,
what will happen to godless sinners?”

So if you are suffering in a manner that pleases God, keep on doing what is right, and trust your lives to the God who created you, for he will never fail you.
