Shadows: Part 2

Shadows: Part 2

As we’ve been talking about over the past two Sundays the enemy loves to keep us in the shadows.  He loves to keep us in the shadows of doubt and fear when it comes to our faith.  However, God has called us to be bold!  He’s called us out so we can stand in, step out, and speak up about our faith.  God wants us to be bold…

  1. In our WORLD.  We are the priests of God.  Our job is to represent Jesus to people everywhere we go.  This week, be bold by being like Jesus to the people around you.  Be bold…
  1. With our GOVERNMENT.  Don’t put those in office down but lift them up in prayer.  They need us standing in the gap and standing up for what’s right.  Finally, be bold…
  1. At your WORK/SCHOOL.  Did you go to work/school with a good attitude today?  Did you give it your best?  Can others around you see something different in you that they’re not seeing in others?  Be a standard of holiness and be a priest everywhere you go.

Don’t let the enemy bully you into the shadows of your faith any longer.  Don’t allow him to steal your identity in Christ.  Be bold!  Come out from the shadows and stand in, step out, and speak up!  The world needs us to!

1 Peter 2:9-19 (NLT)

But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

“Once you had no identity as a people;
    now you are God’s people.
Once you received no mercy;
    now you have received God’s mercy.”

Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.

Respecting People in Authority

For the Lord’s sake, submit to all human authority—whether the king as head of state, or the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish those who do wrong and to honor those who do right.

It is God’s will that your honorable lives should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you. For you are free, yet you are God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil. Respect everyone, and love the family of believers. Fear God, and respect the king.

You who are slaves must submit to your masters with all respect. Do what they tell you—not only if they are kind and reasonable, but even if they are cruel. For God is pleased when, conscious of his will, you patiently endure unjust treatment.
